Setup for Claude

Add Cali as a custom connector

Takes about 2 minutes. You'll need a paid Claude account (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) and you'll be able to use Cali on web, iOS, Android and Mac/Windows desktop.

Your connector URL
https://mcp.heycali.app/mcp

You'll paste this into Claude in step 2.

Step-by-step

1

Open Claude settings

In the Claude app, open Settings → Connectors. On mobile, tap your profile picture → Settings → Connectors.

On the web: visit claude.ai/settings/connectors.

2

Add a custom connector

Click Add custom connector at the bottom of the connectors list.

Paste the URL from above into the Remote MCP server URL field, then click Add.

Sign in to Cali

Claude will pop open a browser window asking you to sign in. Choose Continue with Google or get a magic link by email.

Once you're signed in, the connector activates and you're back in Claude.

4

Say "Hey Cali"

Start a new chat and just say "Hey Cali". She'll introduce herself and ask for a few basics (height, current weight, target) to set up your calorie targets.

From then on, just log meals naturally — "chicken wrap and a latte for lunch" — and Cali does the maths.

Troubleshooting

I don't see "Add custom connector"
Custom connectors require a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise). Make sure you're on a paid account. If you are, also check that you're on the latest version of the Claude app — older versions may not show the option.
Claude says "Cali isn't responding"
Open Settings → Connectors and check that Cali is enabled (toggle on). If the toggle is on but it still doesn't respond, click the connector and re-authorize — your session may have expired.
Cali isn't activating in my chat
Check the connector picker in the chat input — Claude lets you choose which connectors are active per conversation. Make sure Cali is selected. Saying "Hey Cali" usually nudges Claude to call her too.
